Who is telling women their only option is abortion? Who told them that motherhood is terrible? Who told them a baby will ruin their life? Who told them casual sex without commitment is good for them?
These are the messages the world tells our women. In a recent article from Pregnancy Help News, they detail the desperation that young college women feel with the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The article reveals that many college-age women feel that abortion is their safeguard and that without it being legal in all 50 states, that their future is at risk.
What does that tell us? That they believe casual sex is O.K. and that babies will destroy their life. You can read the entire article HERE.
And yet, God’s message to them is so much more. He tells women that they deserve better. His message to them says:
- He has designed sexual intimacy for the commitment of marriage. His plan brings safety, trust and wholeness to women.
- Motherhood is a beautiful role and it will forever change their life … for the better.
- They are worth more than being in relationships that have no commitment. Their value is intrinsic and they deserve to be with someone who will love and cherish them.
- Children are a gift. A handknit, one-of-a-kind, purposefully created and designed gift from their loving Father. And, He only brings good gifts.
What messages are we as the Church giving the women who we come in contact with? Are they hearing what God is wanting them to know? With the overwhelming amount of messaging out there today, let’s make our message loud and clear to the women who come to our Church – “You are valued and you are loved. God’s plan for you as a woman will bring you freedom, hope and joy.”
