Our men have been emasculated.
They have been told they are not needed.
Responsibility is nil.
Manhood has been replaced by forever boyhood.
Toxic masculinity is a common accusation.
Men are confused and have no direction.
Men have been silenced.
Fantasy has become their reality.
I was watching a video clip of a torrential rain that resulted in life-threatening flooding. There was a woman and her child who had become trapped on top of their car, pleading for help. All of a sudden, a strong man appeared, who put his own life at risk, and swam to where the mother and child were and brought them to safety. For some reason, this scene brought tears to my eyes as I reflected on what a gift God brought to the world when He made men.
Their bodies are generally stronger, fear of danger is easier to overcome and there is an intrinsic desire to protect. When a man lives with Godly principles, the world is a better place.
Our young men today are in great need for older, Godly men to come alongside them to help them become men. In the case of abortion, studies have found that the father of the baby carries the greatest influence in the woman’s decision to choose life or abortion.
In an article from World Magazine, they cite a study conducted by Care Net. I encourage you to read the entire article HERE. It was revealed that, “Forty-two percent report that they (father of the baby) advised their partner to abort, with 12 percent confessing that they strongly urged the decision. Another 31 percent admit to giving no advice, with 63 percent of those silent young men feeling it was not their place to weigh in. This is significant, given that, according to the men surveyed for this study, 74 percent of women talk to their male partners before deciding to abort their baby.”
Men carry a lot of influence when it comes to a women’s decision to choose abortion or not. The younger men in our congregations need positive, Godly men who will come alongside them and teach them to take responsibility for their life decisions, to honor and see the beauty of the commitment of marriage and to rise up and live the life of a Godly man.
As our churches take up the mantle of mentorship for men, our world will be a better, safer and more beautiful place.
