Most operate on a shoestring budget with a small staff and huge hearts. They carry the emotional weight of advocating for the pre-born and the mother and being a conduit of healing and hope.
A church’s life-affirming ministry can do many things to support its local center. Here are just a few ideas.
- Provide a meal or sweet treats for their staff to encourage them.
- Do a prayer walk through their center before or after they are open to the public.
- Ask them what their material needs are. It’s important not to assume as they are often limited on storage space and are most helped when others provide for what is truly needed.
- Open the door for the director or representative to come and share with your group and/or your church about the ministry of the center. Unfortunately, they are often the best-kept secret and welcome opportunities for others to know of their valuable services.
- Spearhead fundraising projects for them. Often what they need most is assistance in helping to pay overhead expenses.
- After receiving direction from the staff, put together gift baskets for new moms as an encouragement to them.
When your life-affirming ministry adopts a local center, it becomes a great source of encouragement to the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly on the front lines. Partnering together creates a powerful force for life.
