Post-Abortion Healing

Healing After Abortion

Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.  See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.

Jeremiah 1:9-10

Every movement needs a hero, every cause needs a champion. To make a difference in the world, we need those who are willing to take a stand and resolve that evil will no longer prevail.

When it comes to the movement or cause of advocating for life and healing in our churches and communities, who will step up to be that hero and champion? Who is willing to dedicate their time, talent, and resources to bring God’s gift of freedom to people?

We know that healing and forgiveness can only be found through Jesus Christ. He is searching for those who will partner with Him and carry His great news of the gospel.

The enemy would like nothing more than for churches to ignore the need to bring healing and hope to those who have experienced abortion. He wants us to believe that this isn’t an issue in our churches or that it would be unkind to discuss such a sensitive and personal topic, or even to think that we are not equipped and incapable to do so.

All of these are lies and distractions.

God has entrusted the church with the task of being a channel of healing. The wounds Jesus endured on His way to the cross declare that we are healed through His sacrifice. He suffered in order that we could be healed and receive freedom. We have a responsibility to share this message with those we encounter. Why would we choose to disregard the transformative power of the cross and not share this great news?

Healing after abortion comes through the Good News of the gospel.

Jeremiah was commissioned by the Lord to be His messenger and was given the words to uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow, build and plant. I believe the Lord wants us to embrace this mission as well.

Uproot and tear down: We have the opportunity to expose and remove the deep-rooted lies of the enemy. His lies penetrate the souls of individuals and shape their thoughts, beliefs, decisions, and actions.

Destroy and overthrow: We must actively dismantle and reject the enemy’s impact in our churches and communities. He should have no access or influence over those we minister to. Through the blood of the Lamb and the power of our testimony (Revelation 12:11), we can overcome him.

Build and plant: We have the authority and responsibility to build and sow seeds of faith, hope, and love. By sharing the Good News of Christ, we can edify others and help them grow in their knowledge of God. As they open their hearts to God, we can sow the Word of God into their lives.

When those who have experienced abortion find wholeness and healing through Jesus Christ, they will become a powerful force who will overthrow the enemy’s agenda of death and instead be conduits of life.

Given the number of individuals who have experienced abortion attending our churches each week, we have a moral obligation to be a bridge of hope, healing, and forgiveness. Do those who have experienced abortion in your church know where to find help? Are you regularly offering after-abortion Bible studies or sharing information where they can go to find such healing?

Please refer to our Resource Guide to find a pregnancy center near you that offers after-abortion healing, or consider offering one of our recommended after abortion Bible studies at your church.

The Church is strategically placed and equipped to sow seeds of God’s gift of redemption. Our time is now!
