What better place to celebrate life than at church. Each human being is created in God’s image, and every life should be celebrated as the priceless gift they are.
One way to communicate your church’s celebration and support of life to your community is by offering a free photoshoot. Beautiful pictures of their baby, young children, and family will demonstrate your care and love for them. This is a great way to connect with your young families and single parents, and to show that your doors are always open to them to be a part of the larger church family. It will provide opportunities to get to know them, their stories, and to exhibit the love of Christ.
Choose a few times throughout the year to offer this ministry to those in your community. Either hire a professional photographer or ask a skilled photographer in your church to offer their services for the day. Prepare a room in your church with the necessary backdrops and schedule people accordingly.
Some things to remember:
- Timing is everything. Make sure baby has been well-fed, is comfortable and sleepy.
- Natural light is best.
- Take pictures of them solo as well as with siblings, mother, father and a combination.
- Wear coordinating outfits.
- Remember to photograph the babies features such as feet, hands, etc.
- Have snacks and drinks available.
- Give them information about your children’s program, moms groups, women and men’s ministry and more.
- Offer to pray over their child (children) and for them as parents.
- Love them in a way that they will leave feeling so special and the love of the Father.
Something as simple as pictures can convey the message that their child is valuable and that they matter. It is a tangible way to show that your church wants to journey through life with them, and is committed to caring for and loving their family through all stages.
